Governor
Price compliance reporting for dealers.
Governor is Clarity’s price compliance product for dealers. It logs every advertised price for every VIN and connects to your sales data, so each closed sale sits next to the last price you advertised.
Two data streams meet at the VIN.

01
Every advertised price is logged by VIN.
Each reading records the listed price and the date, so every vehicle has a dated price history.
02
Prices are captured from the website and the ads.
Ads on Meta and Google that show a vehicle at a stated price join the same history.
03
The sale is compared to the last advertised price.
When a sale closes above or below that price, the dealer gets both figures and both dates.
Why we built Governor
Advertised prices are now an enforcement priority.
Regulators now expect the price in a dealer’s ad to match the price a customer can actually pay. When a price is questioned, the dealer needs a dated record of what was advertised, where it ran and what the vehicle sold for. Governor keeps that record for every VIN.
MARCH 2026
The FTC sends warning letters to 97 dealership groups.
The letters list practices such as advertising a price that leaves out required fees or depends on dealer financing.
SEPTEMBER 2026
The FTC publishes pricing guidance for dealers.
It says the advertised price must be the price any consumer can walk in and pay, with mandatory document fees included.
OCTOBER 1, 2026
California’s CARS Act takes effect.
Ads for a specific vehicle must now show a total price that includes dealer adjustments and installed add-ons.
Every VIN gets a price history.
Governor keeps a dated record of each price a vehicle carried, on the website and in ads, and sets the closed sale beside it. When the two disagree, the dealer is notified with both figures and their sources.
Built for the dealer’s side of the desk.
01
Answer pricing questions with a record.
When a customer or a regulator asks what a vehicle was advertised for, the dealer can point to the date, the price and the place it ran.
02
See every channel in one place.
Website listings and Meta and Google ads land in the same history, so a price that drifted on one channel is easy to spot.
03
Catch the gap before someone else does.
A notification arrives when a sale closes above or below the last advertised price, so the store can review the deal while it is still fresh.
Three steps to a complete record.
01
Point Governor at your sources.
We set Governor up to read the dealer’s vehicle detail pages and the ads it runs on Meta and Google.
02
Connect your sales data.
Governor connects to closed sales from the dealer management system, so each sale can be matched to its VIN.
03
Review the notifications.
From then on, Governor logs prices on a continuous cadence and notifies the dealer whenever a sale and its last advertised price differ.
Questions dealers ask.
Who is Governor for?
Governor is built for dealers. It gives a store its own record of advertised prices and closed sales, organized by VIN.
How is Governor different from Clarity Co-Op?
Clarity Co-Op runs an OEM’s co-op program, from pre-approvals to paid claims. Governor answers one question for the dealer: how each vehicle was priced, and how that compares with what it sold for.
Which channels does Governor read?
Governor reads the dealer’s vehicle detail pages, plus dealer ads on Meta and Google that show a specific vehicle at a stated price.
Where does the sales data come from?
Governor connects to closed sales from the dealer management system and matches each one to its VIN.
What does a notification include?
Each notification shows the last advertised price, the sale price, the dates of both, and where the advertised price appeared.
